Dynamic Ceiling Design for Broadway Sydney

Broadway shopping centre has been undergoing a major refurbishment as part of a capital works program aimed at renewing the environment and generating a social space where visitors will linger to browse, shop and dine.

Mirvac engaged Di Emme Creative Solutions in the preliminary stages to help design, engineer and realise the concept of the principle architect. As the project progressed, Di Emme worked closely with Mirvac and MTRDC to refine the design and to provide the finished concept for fabrication and installation.

The design concept was for a visually engaging dynamic ceiling inviting visitors into the property from the Bay Street entrance and ground floor landing. The centre’s existing plaster ceilings were removed and the exposed services and concrete slab ceilings were painted charcoal to minimise their visual presence.

Di Emme fabricated a series of hexagonal aluminium ceiling modules with a proprietary paint finish custom formulated for the project. Di Emme also completed the installation as part of the Dynamic Projects refurbishment program.
