Suspended Acrylic Custom Lighting Design

In upgrading the iconic Broadway Sydney, Mirvac and Perron Group wanted to reflect the centre’s creative neighbourhood and invited local artists to produce bespoke designs for the structural columns. Electrolight’s custom light adds another creative element. The lighting designers came up with the concept, a series of shapes that appear to be tossed by the wind.

Di Emme fabricated the design, trialling the shapes in the model format before moving to the final media. Di Emme used the Electrolight-approved forms as a guide for creating the slumped acrylic shapes. The finished acrylic and bespoke lighting components are suspended from a framework; the pieces are static but the shapes and spaces provide a strong sense of movement.
