Heritage-listed Modernist Factory Inspires Pullman Penrith
Turner Studio is the architecture and design firm behind Pullman Penrith, the area’s first five-star hotel. Custom-design elements feature in the luxury project and Di Emme worked with the designers to create the structural lighting in the Pullman’s Marcel Bistro and Bar.
The restaurant is named for Bauhaus architect, Marcel Breuer, who designed the heritage-listed modernist Torin factory in Penrith. The custom lights share Breuer's sleek modernist lines.
Di Emme developed the design from Turner Studio’s concept drawings and prototyped a section to get material approval. The lights are comprised of steel frames in graduated sizes, fitted with wire mesh and finished with a custom-gold patina. Warm LEDs provide the illumination.
Di Emme constructed the lights in the Leichhardt studio and undertook the onsite installation.
