Native Twig light a whimsical touch at Taronga Eco-retreat

Taronga Wildlife Retreat is an environmentally sensitive eco-retreat inspired by the zoo’s unique Sydney Harbour bushland setting. The interiors from CHADA design combine earthy tones, burnished metals and woody textures.

With a focus on sustainability in every component of design, CHADA had Di Emme hand craft the stunning Twig Light from hundreds of native branches gathered in the area, with integrated LEDs adding a warm glow to the custom lighting fixture.

Looking something like an inverted nest, the bespoke light is suspended above a giant sculpted pebble in the guests-only Me-Gal Restaurant.

Although painstakingly assembled and carefully planned – through a series of drawings and physical prototypes – the Twig Light looks playfully haphazard.
